What's hot now?
Obviously Web 2.0 apps are hot and all the rage. I posted some
examples of popular
and
up and coming
apps.
But what I think is surprising to me is that Ruby and Ruby on Rails is the hottest programming language out there right now.
myBillq.com
was done in Ruby on Rails. It was done for two reasons. One, it gave the
developers
and the company something to program to show off their talents plus gave them experience with writing an application in Ruby on Rails.
OK it seems like it might make web 2.0 easier to program? Is that a fair statement? What's a good resource to start understanding Ruby?

If your up for picking up a book, I'd suggest ruby for rails by davd black, does a pretty cool job wandering through ruby and the various ways rails is implemented in ruby. If you just want a walk through of rails, the second edition of Agile Web Development with Rails is coming out soon, and I think the beta book is available for early purchase now. Lastly if your feeling more ruby focussed then the so called pickaxe2 (programming ruby 2nd ed) may be more to your liking.
Personally I'd recommend ruby for rails black as the jump point.
just some thoughts, best of luck,

ps i know you gots to stop the robots, I mean if you don't who will and then itll be just chaos. But that pixelated Voit-Kampf test is messing with my ability to post my innocuous prose of help. Then again maybe I am the robot you speak of, whom you wish not to be able to click z buuuton. Have no fear I am not a hidden markov model or some suh ngram here to spew fore nonsense of that callibre. Not I can be rather hlpful whn sober. I hope this post has blown up into somthing as humurous for you as it is for me, as weell as gaining a fw nuggets of usuable information....yeeha
